About me

Selena Trifunović was born in Prizren, Kosovo and Metohija (Serbia) in 1982, where she graduated from the Primary and then Secondary music school Josip Slavenski  in a class taught by teacher Olga Glavić and professor Marko Savić.

She has participated in numerous national and international competitions where she has won a great number of awards, and is the first representative from Kosovo and Metohija to have participated in international piano competitions. For her exceptional achievements, she received the special award from the city of Prizren.

She graduated from the Piano Department of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, under the guidance of professor Mirjana Šuica-Babić.

She is currently enrolled in her final year of PhD studies at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade.

She has completed numerous courses with top music pianists and educators such as Arbo Valdma, Marko Tajčević, Aleksandar Madžar.

She is an instructor and a member of  the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London) and a longtime associate of the International Schools in Belgrade.

She has performed numerous solo concerts within her country as well as abroad and is actively performing as a soloist as well as a member of the trio Piano trinity.

Selena is actively involved in exploring the music of Kosovo and Metohija. She is writing a doctoral dissertation dealing with the stylistics of literary and musical works inspired by Kosovo and Metohija, and presents music from that region at concerts throughout Serbia and Europe pointing to the exceptional importance and value of Kosovo and Metohija.

As a member of the Serbian delegation, she participated in the conference of the 150th anniversary of the All-Slavic Parliament in Moscow and St. Petersburg, where she presented the theme “The Sacred Places of Kosovo and Metohija as an Inspiration to Serbian Composers”.

She currently lives and works in Belgium, as an assistant professor at the “House of music”, where she works as a professor of piano as well as within the program “Children are Composers”. She also performs and researches as part of the “Music and demention” program.
