Others about me

Nowadays, there are less and less gifted artists, lucid scientists, experts in various fields, who, leaving their homeland, permanently or temporarily, still bind their feet to their native soil, listen to the voices of their ancestors and moderate their future with the standards of the tradition of the people they belong to. This is the case with renowned pianist Selena Trifunović. It can be rightly said that wherever she is at, with her instrument she testifies about the imperial city of Prizren, from which she originates, about the sublime cultural and, in particular, the musical heritage of the Kosovo and Metohija holy land. There are numerous performances, compositions and genres in which this young, extraordinarily talented artist successfully tested herself. However, adaptations of songs from her native land, with which she has presented herself to European audiences in recent years, have gained the significance of a rare mission. The refinement of the sound, the flickering color of the keyboard under her hand, and the deep, intense emotion that comes from the marvelous blend of her fragile appearance and great instrument, change the hearts of those who had never before had in their sight the performances of Kosovo, and the Serbian people to which that country belongs. The initial musical curiosity for the European ear turns less intimate intervals and asymmetrical rhythms, while interpreting the temperamental, subtle and without the rest of the honest artist turns into a higher rank. Selena Trifunović’s concerts cause an unprecedented transformation, giving birth to the need for truth about a country where life and death are sung with the same intensity, defeated by Christ’s resurrection. As she has not only once found herself on the fine line between this world and the next, Selena has just been tasked to testify to the truth with music. And she does this impeccably. Gazing at the “endless blue circle” in which she has as her guiding star the traditions and sounds with which she grew up on the streets of Prizren, Selena guides everyone who listens to the same goal, whether it’s her people who live abroad or foreigners who she makes her own by playing music. She makes the sky over Kosovo and Metohija, the fields and mountain peaks, which have no end, closer to us all.

Recommendation for outstanding work by piano teacher Mrs. Selena Trifunović

I can say with pleasure that Mrs. Selena Trifunović was the first piano professor to my daughter Sofija Arsenović, and, thanks to her, she achieved great results over the next two years. In addition to the fact that Sofija, thanks to Selena, has passed numerous exams in her music school, she has also succeeded in sophisticated instrumentation of playing the piano, enjoying the creation of music and has successfully climbed the ladder of music education.

Selena’s pedagogical approach and patience in working with Sofija have created tremendous value, a great foundation for further work and development, which I as a parent greatly appreciate. During their work together, they went through different approaches and methods, until choosing the best way that suited my daughter’s temperament and character. The demanding and high criterion, as well as constant new challenges, motivated Sofija and her desire for constant progress in playing the piano.

Selena’s advice and assessments of my daughter’s progress, qualifications and success are unconditionally appreciated, first and foremost because it is the best way for my child to use all her capacities and achieve the best grades. All of the above resulted in a great experience and a sense of pride for Sofija, and a professional achievement for Selena.

Selena Trifunović, pianist and teacher, professor at the Lujo Davičo Ballet School in Belgrade. She was my homeroom teacher and piano teacher as well as an accompanist in classical ballet. Schooling seemed to be easy and trouble free. She was primarily a friend to us and then a professor. She tried to solve every problem with us. She loves her job tremendously and she lovingly shared what she learned through her education with all of her students. Her piano lessons flowed with ease, she was able to direct her students to love what they were doing and to love playing the piano alone! Unfortunately, this has only lasted for two years, but our cooperation hasn’t ended even today while she continues to pass on her teaching skills outside her home country.
